At COP30 today, NiMet Director General, Professor Anosike, reconnected with Ignitia CEO, Andrew Lala

The discussion centred on advancing weather and climate information, empowering meteorologists to deliver timely and impactful climate services, in line with the Hon. Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo's drive to improve public-private partnerships.

Professor Anosike and Andrew Lala examined concrete collaborative strategies, including the establishment of joint data-sharing platforms and the conduct of training workshops.

The partnership options under review included leveraging NiMet’s existing meteorological network with Ignitia’s technology to ensure accurate weather updates reach remote farming communities. Together, they highlighted the importance of enhancing data accessibility for vulnerable communities and demonstrated that technology and community-led sensitization could strengthen climate resilience efforts.

By clearly delineating responsibilities—NiMet providing meteorological expertise and local engagement, and Ignitia delivering technological tools and operational support—the partnership aims to improve data accessibility, empower local adaptation strategies, and strengthen climate resilience across Nigeria’s farming communities.
