NiMet DG Inspects On-going Safe Tower Upgrade at Abuja Airport.

The Director General of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency, NiMet, has inspected the ongoing upgrade of the Abuja Airport Safe Tower project with the installation of the ceilometers, transmissiometers lightning and thunderstorm detection systems, automatic weather stations and the complete solarisation of the systems for uninterrupted power supply.
Professor Anosike expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done after an on-the-spot inspection of the five equipment sites located on the airside of the airport. He expressed optimism at the capacity of the representative of the original equipment manufacturers, the contractor, to deliver the project which has gone 90% completed by the end of July 2025.
The Safe Tower Project, which is a safety critical Meteorological equipment was initially installed about 20 years ago, is being upgraded from MIDAS IV system to AVIMET for safe air navigation.
