The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) is currently attending COP28

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) is currently attending the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference more commonly referred to as COP28. It is the 28th edition being held from the 30th of November 2023 to the 12th of December 2023 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The COP conferences are intended for governments to agree on various policies to limit global temperature rises and adapt to the impact associated with the changing climate. Leading the NiMet team is the DG/CEO Professor Mansur Bako Matazu, Also in this entourage are Director, Applied Meteorology, Professor Charles Anosike, Director, Human Resource Management and Administration Malam Saleh Tukur Yusuf and the Technical Assistant to DG/CEO Mr Oluwaseun Idowu.

The DG/CEO showcased NiMet’s multi-sectoral products and services while discussing the critical role it is playing in Nigeria to mitigate the effects and impact of climate change in Nigeria. The Nigeria Contingent to the event was led by the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,, Mr Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Also included was the Honourable Minister for Aviation and Aerospace Development Mr Festus Keyamo (SAN).
