The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has produced the first edition of the 2016 Marine Meteorological Quarterly Bulletin for January – March 2016 period. The bulletin details marine meteorological and oceanographic information such as the sea-state and forecasts for marine users both at sea and along the coast....

Marine Bulletin 1st Quarter 2014.

The ITD position fluctuated between latitudes 6.4°N and 9.5°N. The average latitudinal position was 7.9 °N while the highest and lowest positions were 11.8°N and 6.3°N respectively. The winds were southwesterly, occasionally backing southeasterly with speed ranging from 5 - 12kts, occasionally 18kts.

Marine Bulletin 4th Quarter 2013.

The ITD position had fluctuated between latitudes 14.0°N and 12.5°N, with an average latitudinal position of 13.0°N. The winds were southwesterly, occasionally veering or backing with speed ranging from 05kts – 15kts, occasionally 18kts. The coastal maximum temperature had mean value of 27.7°C in Eket and 30.1°C in Calabar areas. The average Sea Surface Temperature over Koko was 28.8°C while Eket and Calabar had 26.2°C and 27.0°C respectively.

Marine Bulletin 3rd Quarter 2013.

The ITD continued its northward movement from its average position in the previous month. It fluctuated between latitudes 15.6°N and 20.2°N, with an average latitudinal position of 18.1°N. The winds were southwesterly, occasionally veering or backing with speed ranging from 5 - 15kts, occasionally 25kts. The mean coastal maximum temperature in Eket and Calabar areas were 26.9°C and 28.0°C respectively.
