Prof. Odjugo Peter Akpodiogaga-a Ovuyovwiroye was born in his village Okpara Inland, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria on the 13th February, 1964. He attended Urhuegbe Primary School, Okpara Inland (1970-1977), James Welsh Grammar School, Emevor (1979-1984), Bendel State University (Now AAU), Ekpoma (1985-1989) where he had his first degree in Geography Science Education (B.Sc. Ed); M.Sc. (1992) and Ph.D (2003) in Geography (Climatology) from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria. Other Certificates obtained include; Certificate in Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems Applications, National Centre for Remote Sensing, Jos, Nigeria. 2007. Certificate in Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems Application for Sustainable Development, UNIBEN, Benin City, Nigeria, 2008. Certificate in customized training in Geographic Information Systems for application in Climatology and Vegetation analysis. Regional Centre for Training in Aerospace Surveying (RECTAS), OAU, Ile Ife, Nigeria, 2010.

Quality Management System (QMS) Awareness Training, Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET), Oshodi, Lagos, Nigeria, 2017. Prof. Odjugo is a teacher and a researcher. He was employed as a Secondary School Teacher of Geography by the then Bendel State Post Primary Secondary Board, Asaba. In 1993, he moved to the College of Education, Agbor, Delta State, as Lecturer III. In 1998, he was employed as a Lecturer 1 in the Department of Geography and Regional Planning, University of Benin, Benin City and he rose to the position of a Professor of Geography (Climatology) in 2010. Prof. Odjugo joined the services of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency in August 2017 as the Director of Meteorological Research and Training.
The Director is a Member of the Association of Nigerian Geographers, Nigerian Environmental Society and Nigerian Meteorological Society. The Director is an Applied Climatologist and his research interest is in the areas of Climate Change, Agro climatology, Hydro climatology, Atmospheric and Environmental quality Assessment and Tourism. He has 62 papers to his credit and they are published in International, National and Local Journals, Monograph and Edited Conference Proceedings. He is also an adjunct Research Professor with the Centre for Population and Environmental Development (CPED), Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria since 2009 and has carried out researches with Institutions, National and International Ministries and Organizations like SPDC, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, IDRC among others. Prof. Odjugo has served as an External Examiner (for undergraduate and post graduate programmes) to 10 Nigerian Universities. He has also served as an External Assessors (Professorial Cadre) to 12 Nigerian Universities and Research Institutes. He has attended several local, national and foreign conferences, workshops and seminars. The Director is married with children.
