NiMet INAUGURATES PROCUREMENT PLANNING COMMITTEE FOR 2017 BUDGET
The Director – General of NiMet, Prof. Sani Abubakar Mashi, has inaugurated a ten - member Procurement Planning Committee pursuant to Part Four, sections 18 and 21 of the Public Procurement Act of 2007.
Speaking during the ceremony, which took place at the Agency’s Headquarters in Abuja, Prof. Mashi enumerated the provisions of the Act and promised to ensure full compliance in order to promote cost effectiveness, transparency and accountability in all its procurement activities.
He expressed the hope that members will perform their roles with the commitment, dedication and effectiveness that the assignment requires.
Ahmed Abdu Esq, Director of Legal Services, who spoke on behalf of the committee, assured of the members’ total commitment to the assignment.
The Committee, chaired by the Director-General, has the Director of Finance and Account, Director of Legal Services, and Representatives from Directorate of Weather Forecasting Services (DWFS), Directorate of Applied Meteorological Services (DAMS), Directorate of Engineering & Technical Services (DETS), Directorate of Administration & Supply (DAS), and Directorate of Research & Training (DR&T). Other members include General Manager, Special Projects and Planning and the Head of Procurement as Secretary.
The inauguration of the 2017 Procurement Planning Committee (PPC) is in compliance with the Public Procurement Act of 2007, which stipulates that for each financial year, each procuring entity shall establish a procurement planning committee.
